Raku Ceramics
We have a nice selection of Raku ceramic art pieces available in the shop now. What does “Raku” mean? A very short description – we found an artist in Italy who comes from a ceramic background, but the traditional Italian ceramics. At a young age, Luca Leandri fell in love with the idea and form and function of the traditional Japanese Raku method for making ceramics. Luca has studied Raku styles and developed his own style over the past years, and has a large following in Italy and elsewhere. Raku is a special method of firing the ceramics that gives the product a very special appearance – you can see that below.
Here is a small selection of the Leandri Raku pieces available in the Unterägeri shop today.
You can see more on Luca’s website at http://www.lucaleandri.it/ (still under construction…), http://www.corsi-raku.it/, all in Italian, http://lamaisondyvette.com/leandri_show.htm a show Yvette put on in 2006 in La Galleria Yvette Tucci in Marsciano, Italy, and http://www.lamaisondyvette.com/raku_ceramics.htm from the Marsciano shop.
Luca also gives lessons on “How To” at his combination workshop-gallery-bed & breakfast near Marsciano. Here are two videos that show you what goes on there…
